About this author

Dr. Emmy Leah Zitter is Senior Lecturer in Literature and Creative Writing in Michlalah-Jerusalem's and Shaanan College's English Departments. Her recent academic works include an analysis of Akeidat Yitzchak based on contemporary assessment theories, a study of Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography as a source for Rav Menachem Mendel's Cheshbon haNefesh, and a study of Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice in light of Parashat VaYetzeh. She also is a regular columnist in MIshpacha Magazine and her essays have appeared in numerous Jewish periodicals. 

Emmy Leah made aliya 35 years ago with her family. She lives in Bet Shemesh--minutes away from a recently excavated archaeological site from the time of King Chizkiyahu.
