Rabbi Yisroel Cotlar moved to Cary in 2010, giving Chabad of Cary their first full-time Rabbi. No stranger to the South, Yisroel was born and raised in Houston and active in Chabad outreach activities in Texas from his early youth.
After studying in Yeshivot in the USA, UK, and Canada, Yisroel spent two years in Australia, teaching, guiding, and mentoring Jewish teens, many of whom seek his counsel and advice until today. He then returned to the USA where he received his Rabbinical ordination from the Central Chabad Rabbinical Court in Brooklyn, New York.
Reb Yisroel is a warm and charismatic program organizer and mentor. As a member of the Chabad.org “Ask the Rabbi team” Rabbi Cotlar responds to hundreds of emails weekly in topics ranging from questions in Jewish philosophy to advice on personal matters.
