Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 5:9
Dyeing is as follows: If a type of produce is commonly used as dye and is also used for human consumption, it may be used as dye for people. One may not use shemittah produce as dye for animals; this is true even of animal feed. This is because the shemittah sanctity doesn’t extend to dye for animals.
Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 5:10
Shemittah sanctity does extend to detergent species [the Rambam here names some plants to which this applies] and they may be used for laundering. This is derived from Leviticus 25:6: “The produce of the land’s rest shall be to you,” i.e., to you for all your needs. However, one may not launder using shemittah fruits, nor may they be used to make a poultice, because the verse continues: “shall be yours to eat.” This is to the exclusion of using them as a poultice, to sprinkle on a wound, as an emetic, to soak flax or for laundering.
